Globally over 1 Billion people lack access to a source of safe drinking water and sanitation and filtration systems are either too costly or difficult to maintain. We aim to change that.
Kusini Water is a social enterprise that builds water treatment systems from nanotechnology and macadamia nut shells. Our systems bring clean, safe drinking water to people in rural, peri-urban and informal settlements throughout the African continent.
Access to safe drinking water changes everything.
When we install water treatment systems in communities that lack access to clean water, we improve:
Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Our systems make that a problem of the past.
Clean water and proper toilets at school means teenage girls don’t have to stay home for a week out of every month and miss valuable class time. General hygeine month the community gets better.
Clean water helps keep kids in school — less time collecting water for their families means more time in class.
Giving water to communities in need isn’t the only impact we create. We host Bootcamps where applicants stand the chance of running their own Kusini Water outlet.
Being able to use clean, uncontaminated water for crops, bathing and drinking makes living a little easier for everyone.
When there is clean, safe drinking water, there is less anxiety and stress about where their next cup of water is coming from.
These are all the locations that Kusini Water currently filters water.
